Nike launches virtual trainer collection

Nike has launched its first digital collection of trainers on its .SWOOSH platform.

Nike launched the .SWOOSH platform last year to enable its members to learn about, collect, and co-create virtual creations, including interactive digital objects like virtual shoes or clothing.

The Our Force 1 (OF1) collection, which was created by members of the .SWOOSH community, comes in two “digital boxes” priced at $19.82 and contains a digital Our Force 1 version of the iconic Air Force 1.

Once opened, the OF1 box will provide special access to physical products and experiences in the coming months.

All 330,00 members of .SWOOSH will have the opportunity to purchase the collection.

Nike will begin randomly distributing posters to .SWOOSH members which will allow them to purchase the collection from 8 May.

Commenting on the news Ron Faris, general manager of Nike Virtual Studios, said: “We are exploring new ways to tell stories and create relationships while removing the barriers and limitations of physical product. With more members choosing to express themselves across physical and digital worlds, .SWOOSH is the marketplace of the future.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
